Job Family: Data Management

Maintains and monitors data and databases to meet the company’s current and projected future needs. Reviews and ensures the quality, accuracy and security of data in accordance with established procedures and standards. Monitors database activity and the relationships between the database users and applications to ensure appropriate data usage and resolve data conflicts. Collaborates with technology/infrastructure staff to identify data relationships and functional requirements.

Job Function: Data Governance

Designs and monitors control systems which ensure the integrity and security of data and for advising on the optimal use of the organization’s computing resources. Assesses the completeness, accuracy, validity and efficiency of information processing, business and application systems, reviews the operations, systems software, systems development and security of the organization’s computing environment, and recommends appropriate software and hardware acquisitions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Sr. Associate, Data Governance serves as a subject matter expert for designing end to end data governance structure for specific reporting and processes. S/he will liaise with business leaders and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality products within the expected timeframes.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts data management maturity assessments and identifies pain points for capabilities including data quality, governance, architecture, analytics, metadata management, master data management, etc.
  • Builds future state governance strategy and roadmaps; presents to senior leadership.
  • Identifies data governance gaps and assesses data governance maturity.
  • Collaborates with data stewards to produce data quality mapping.
  • Facilitates resolution of data conflicts across lines of businesses.
  • Builds and sustains cross-functional relationships through consistent and predictable collaboration efforts.
  • Provides oversight through collaboration and/or development of supplemental guidance to ensure successful implementation of policy requirements.
  • Gathers critical information from meetings with various stakeholders to produce useful reporting working closely with department heads, technicians, and managerial staff.
  • Presents data, results, and/or recommendations from projects or process implementations to senior leadership as directed.
  • Prepares and analyzes extensive data for timely and accurate managerial reporting in monthly boards of director’s meetings.
  • Identifies trends, advises management and recommends actions based on sound advise.
  • Consults with management to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making within the broadest scope.
  • Ensures that solutions meet the business needs and adherence to company standards.
  • Provides guidance and direction to less experienced data analysts on data analysis and maintenance of data infrastructure.
  • Provides recommendations to complex business scenarios/problems.

Requirements:

  • Education –
    • Bachelor’s Degree: Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Actuarial Science, or other equivalent field.
    • or equivalent work experience
    • Master’s Degree: Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Actuarial Science, or other equivalent field.
  • Experience –
    • 9-12 years Audit, regulatory, compliance, operational, or financial experience with Data Governance
  • Skills & Abilities –
    • Advanced knowledge of data governance best practices, challenges, and approaches; metadata, data quality, and data stewardship.
    • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in financial services industry.
    • Ability to comprehend processes and systems associated with data management; evaluate and understand business challenges; their technical implications, and potential solutions for implementation.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of management and negotiate project priorities and deliverables.
    • Ability to work across multiple lines of business and facilitate large cross-functional meetings.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Ability to interact with senior level management; experience interfacing with multiple levels of the organizational structure.
    • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information in an appropriate manner.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
