Job Function: Compliance

Represents or supports the representation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Manager, AML Compliance is responsible for testing processes and internal controls within the Financial Intelligence Unit and across the Enterprise (i.e., within BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance, business units, infrastructure units, affiliates and vendors).The Manager, AML Compliance responsibilities include sampling, testing and reporting BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance testing results to management to ensure that the Organizational and OFAC program is in compliance with Regulatory Requirements, Policy and Procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Makes recommendations for corrective action including recommendations to enhance policies, procedures and processes.
  • Modifies scripts and/or scope based on initial findings.
  • Ensures management stakeholders develop and implement appropriate corrective actions on a timely basis.
  • Conducts follow-up testing to ensure corrective action has been implemented, is sustainable, and mitigates identified risk.
  • Documents and maintains the units Policy and Procedures for the BSA/AML/OFAC Compliance Testing Program.
  • Develops standard workprograms and test scripts for the testing of business processes, procedures, and controls, both manual control processes and systems controls and maintain documentation and workpapers for examinations and reviews conducted.
  • Identifies potential concerns & control issues.
  • Determines the root cause of issues, documents, and makes recommendations for enhancement of controls & presents findings to management.
  • Maintains abreast of BSA/AML/OFAC legal and regulatory matters affecting BSA/AML/OFAC examination program.
  • Assists in the development and updating of Policies and Procedures related to performing and updating the BSA/AML and OFAC Risk Assessments and its methodology.
  • Maintains effective channels of communication with business unit and infrastructure leads assigned to understand BSA/AML and OFAC risks and internal control mitigants of each area.
  • Understands, monitors and incorporates the specific BSA/AML and OFAC risks and the mitigating internal controls relating to customers, products & services, and geographies for business/infrastructure units assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages subordinate managers and professional staff. Is responsible for the strategic guidance, development and evaluation of employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Santander’s policies and applicable laws.

Requirements:

  • Education –
    • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance, or equivalent field.
    • or equivalent work experience
  • Experience –
    • 5-9 years Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, or Financial Services.
  • Skills & Abilities –
    • Advanced knowledge, theories, and concepts of Compliance, Risk, and Audit methodology, process development, and implementation.
    • Knowledge of current laws and regulations that affect the organization's policies.
    • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards.
    • Ability to lead and manage a team of highly skilled professionals.
    • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.
    • Ability to present ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner to management.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
