Job Family: Communications

Designs, influences, implements and monitors the strategies for communicating the company's vision, values and business goals. Administers and plans communications to engage employees on strategic business imperatives and organizational direction. Identifies, synthesizes, and articulates the company's perspective and issues accurately to stakeholders, including employees, customers, the news media, and shareholders. Provides ongoing support to ensure consistency and alignment with established organizational principles, business objectives and media strategies.

Job Function: Corporate Communications

Develops, reviews and delivers both the company's internal and external communication strategies and key messages based on understanding of the business and objectives. Works with communications team to ensure the communication strategies are implemented on time and within budget. Creates, manages and implements key announcement strategies, crisis communications programs and stakeholder communications. Evaluates, reviews and edits communications and materials for quality, completeness, accuracy and alignment with established brand standards. Ensures that employees can rapidly identify, send, receive and understand information that is clear, credible and relevant. Develops, publishes and distributes a range of organizational, cultural and HR-related materials in traditional print form, electronically or through online technologies. Creates intranet content, newsletters, brochures, handbooks, and meeting materials. Assists with media relations activities to increase marketplace awareness of strategic direction, business results, products and solutions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Sr. Communications Specialist is responsible for creating integrated communications programs based on best practices and that deliver against Company objectives and strategic initiatives. S/he assists with communications including writing, media relations and plans, develops, executes and evaluates communication outreach strategies and plans that promote Santander's business strategy to internal and external audiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Partners and collaborates with technology, business, and marketing as needed to develop and deliver effective communication.
  • Develops and executes creative ways to deliver messages through video and other rich media content.
  • Develops, writes and edits presentations, talking points, blogs, Q&A;’s, emails, articles and news releases following Associated Press style standards.
  • Develops content that can be deployed to enhance the awareness of organizational offerings. Supports project implementations using established communication strategies.
  • Participates in the development of end user feedback strategies including customer satisfaction surveys and focus groups.
  • Actively manages the programs and tactics that support the communications plan, with objectives and strategies to heighten program awareness against well-defined audiences
  • Monitors social media conversations and trends to identify opportunities for content, conversations or collaborations internally and with external organizations.
  • Researches and reports on industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Education –
  • Bachelor's Degree: in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a equivalent field.
  • or equivalent work experience
  • Experience –
  • 3-5 years’ experience in public/media relations or social media
  • 3-5 years’ experience with Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube and Instagram) and Google Analytics
  • 3-5 years’ experience with development and implementation of campaigns for email, e-newsletters, online advertising, search engines and social media
  • 3-5 years’ experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel) preferred
  • Skills & Abilities –
  • Awareness of responsibilities as brand ambassador and experience in promotional engagement
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AP writing style guidelines
  • Resourceful, innovative and takes initiative
  • Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create effective messaging for specific audiences, and consolidate contributions and feedback from multiple sources
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to manage changing requirements and short timelines
  • Ability to multi-task and possesses excellent prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, good organizational and interpersonal skills, and detail-oriented individual who can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Comfortable working knowledge of new technology and the ability to quickly learn new skills and processes
