Job Family: Communications

Designs, influences, implements and monitors the strategies for communicating the company’s vision, values and business strategy. Administers and plans communications to engage employees on strategic business imperatives and organizational direction. Identifies, synthesizes, and articulates the company’s perspective and issues accurately to stakeholders, including employees, customers, the news media, and shareholders. Provides ongoing support and communication advice to company leadership to ensure consistency and alignment with established organizational principles, business objectives and media strategies.

Job Function: Corporate Communications

Develops, reviews and delivers both the company’s internal and external communication strategies and key messages based on understanding of the business and objectives. Ensures the communication strategies are implemented on time and within budget.
Creates, manages and implements key announcement strategies, crisis communications programs and stakeholder communications. Evaluates, reviews and edits communications and materials for quality, completeness, accuracy and alignment with established brand standards. Provides ongoing support and communication advice to company leadership to ensure consistency and alignment with established organizational principles, business objectives and media strategies. Ensures that employees can rapidly identify, send, receive and understand information that is clear, credible and relevant. Develops, publishes and distributes a range of organizational, cultural and HR-related materials in traditional print form, electronically or through online technologies. Creates intranet content, newsletters, brochures, handbooks, and meeting materials. Develops, nurtures, and maintains strong relationships with the media to increase marketplace awareness of strategic direction, business results, products and solutions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Sr. Specialist, Communications is responsible for creating integrated communications programs based on best practices and that deliver against Company objectives and strategic initiatives. S/he assists with communications including writing, media relations and plans, develops, executes and evaluates communication outreach strategies and plans that promote Santander’s internal and external audiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Partners and collaborates with technology, business, and marketing as needed to develop and deliver effective communication.
  • Develops and executes creative ways to deliver messages through video and other rich media content.
  • Develops, writes and edits presentations, talking points, blogs, Q&A;’s, emails, articles.
  • Develops content that can be deployed to enhance the awareness of organizational offerings. Supports project implementations using established communication strategies.
  • Participates in the development of end user feedback strategies including customer satisfaction surveys and focus groups.
  • Develops and executes a communications/marketing multi-year plan with objectives and strategies to heighten program awareness against well-defined audiences and then actively manages the programs and tactics that support the plan.
  • Monitors social media conversations and trends to identify opportunities for content, conversations or collaborations within Weill Cornell Medicine and with external organizations.
  • Researches and reports on industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Education –
    • Bachelor’s Degree: in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a equivalent field.
    • or equivalent work experience
  • Experience –
    • 3-5 years Experience in public/media relations or social media.
    • 3-5 years Experience with Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube & Instagram) and Google Analytics.
    • 3-5 years Experience with development and implementation of campaigns for email, e-newsletters, online advertising, search engines and social media.
    • 3-5 years Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel).
  • Skills & Abilities –
    • Awareness of responsibilities as brand ambassador and experience in promotional engagement
    • Knowledge of CMS systems such as Wordpress and Drupal, Photoshop, InDesign and video editing is required
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications
    • Knowledge of Ad platforms such as Google AdWords, LinkedIn Ads, Twitter Ads, TrueView ads and Facebook Business
    • Resourceful, innovative and takes initiative
    • Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to create effective messaging for specific audiences, and consolidate contributions and feedback from multiple sources

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
