Job Function: Project Management

Develops, edits and implements project plans to manage the lifecycle and operational aspects of projects (i.e., resources, scope, schedule, cost, assumptions and dependencies). Manages work streams, prepares status reports and interfaces with stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution are aligned with defined objectives. Coordinates and communicates the activities of project personnel with relevant stakeholders to ensure progress within time and budget constraints.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The VP, Enterprise Operational Readiness implements, communicates, and expands the readiness for various programs ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed and stakeholder alignment. S/he assists in overseeing and managing planning, coordinating, executing, and reporting on program readiness. S/he leads readiness for projects and teams, ranging in size and complexity, defining performance goals and execution from initiation to closure. The incumbent leads operational readiness for scope definition, risk identification and methodology and reports on project status, determines time frames, staffing and resource requirements and lead others to make meaningful process improvements. The VP, Enterprise Operational Readiness manages readiness for projects to deliver within scope, on time and on budget.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages readiness for process and project management deliverables for all assigned projects from initiation thru closure, including intake activities
  • Develop and apply a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of communications.
  • Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness and identify key stakeholders.
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress
  • Support change management at the project level
  • Acts as a key Risk Management liaison in the readiness for development, design, and implementation of new business applications and technologies that support the organization’s strategic and operational plans while maintaining effective internal control and sound risk management practices.
  • Drives/participates in the funding process, as appropriate (i.e. presentations, cost-benefit analysis, business case)
  • Leads and contributes to the operational readiness in the development of project definition and scope with applicable stakeholders
  • Identifies project duration, effort, sequence, and dependencies of tasks required to meet applicable project objectives impact
  • Monitors and documents project milestones and outcomes throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to established quality standards for all stakeholders
  • Contributes to Project Team meetings and situational analysis regularly to ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders
  • Develops presentations, dashboards, reports and other team and executive level project communications and documentation
  • Adheres to Santander’s project management standards by ensuring that recognized project management processes, discipline and controls are consistently applied to projects from initiation through closure.
  • Develops, communicates and implements project risk mitigation plans and completes risk actions, issues and decisions documentation to effectively monitor risk and enable accountability and responsibility
  • Develops and implements business readiness contingency and recovery plans when deliverables are missed (i.e. identify critical path, document, plan for Return to Green, business continuity plan, etc.)
  • Documents and communicates impact of project changes, project health and project status project team, business owner an executive sponsor
  • Tracks and reports accurate project plans and budgets readiness in line with appropriate

Other Functions:

  • Recruits, trains, develops, motivates, sets goals, and provides on-going feedback to a team of direct reports.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages subordinate managers and professional staff. Is responsible for the strategic guidance, development and evaluation of employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Santander’s policies and applicable laws.


  • Education –
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • or equivalent work experience
  • Experience –
    • 5-9 years Program management experience required.
    • 5-9 years automotive finance experience required.
    • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading the design and implementation of Change Management strategies
    • A solid understanding of how to influence successful adoption of new technology platforms
    • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
    • Problem solving and root cause identification skills

    • Ability to understand, apply, and articulate industry project management principles, theories, and concepts
    • Ability to identify risks and manage them, escalation when necessary

    • Demonstrated knowledge of project and portfolio management tools (i.e. Clarity, Visio, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Knowledge and expertise in the use of project management, PMLC and SDLC methodologies and tools (i.e. Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, Iterative)
    • Knowledge of functional area may be required
    • Proven experience prioritizing, budgeting, estimating, project implementation
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision making skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
